It’s Thursday in our sunny little paradise known as Wharekahika, home to many of the tribe Ngati Porou…well…it's been sunny for one day so far! Work has been progressing smoothly as we finish our third day of work on this marae.
Here are just a few of the pictures we've taken so far! =)
So dark in this room…
Let there be light! Florescent light that is ! =)
Water from the leaking roof had destroyed all the wood in the middle of this wall. Jeff and Davis have been on the job to find the leaks and replace the timbers. The window has been removed and been filled in for new shelf space soon to be put in.

Here is the stage extension going into the next room for easier access to the power box. Damon and Don sharing carpenter insights to get the job into action.
Terry and Damon working together to wire up and finish off the wall.
Jeff and Davis on the roof and under it checking out how to fix the leaks so the new timber will not go rotten like the last lot.
Scrum!!! To get the first lot of shelving in place!
Bob and Dave doing the woodwork on the shelving material.
Replacing the lighting: Step 1
Step 2
Step 3
The Don with the d.i.y paint mixer.
Aha! Finally got a picture of the photographer! He thought he could hide from the camera forever!
It’s been a fantastic experience so far and if any of the fellows thought they would be dropping a few pounds on this trip they’re out of luck! The food here is excellent and there's lots of it! =)
