Over the weekend we had some visitors at Hinemaurea Marae. Coke, the caffeine and sugar were the only things standing between the Gateway team and sleep as they stayed up till 1am Saturday waiting for the late arrivals from Hamilton and Auckland. Gus Row (Don's second-oldest son) and 4 maori teenagers from his youth group, rock solid, and 9 members of an Auckland youth group were welcome help over the weekend because they knocked the head 0ff most of the painting inside the toilet block. Below are some pictures of the two teams:
Here are some pictures of us welcoming the Aucklanders and the team from Hamilton. Now that the Gateway team has been here for a week and lived on the marae we are counted as whanau (family), so we are where those from the marae sit when welcoming newcomers. It was nice being on the other side of a welcoming ceremony for once!!
