A Little Piece of Paradise?

On the remote east coast of New Zealand’s North Island, Wharekahika (Hicks Bay) is a quiet sanctuary, well away from the hustle and bustle we’re used to, and 120 km from the nearest major town. It’s also very scenic, with a series of beaches, hills and headlands that are the closest mainland location to the International Date Line. Some could say it's a shame most Pākehā (New Zealanders of predominantly European ancestry) don't even know this part of their country exists. Others might say "just as well" . . .
